#24706 Higher philosophy

Posted by Silver on 18 May 2005 - 07:54 PM in Other

I've just been writing notes out myself. Once I've written them I know almost everything and I just reread them a couple of times after that.

So far I've studied Descartes, Plato, Kantian & Utilitarian Ethics, Euthanasia, Metaphysics and Epistemology, but now I'm sure there won't be the right questions for me, because that would just be typical.

And only a few hours left, eep!

I've got my first unit NAB on Monday sad.gif

I'm totally terrified about it at the moment. I won't use Scholar if the standard is so low. I have PPQs in my class stuff I guess I'll use them...

noone in my year got 5A's, out of about 6 or 7 people predicted to do so. Has anyone else's school not done as well across the board?  sad.gif

I don't know about my whole year, but everyone I have talked to has fallen from their expected and predicted grades, some of them quite a lot- one of my friends went down in every subject and dropped quite severely in two of them. So everyone I've talked to hasn't done as well as expected.

If you did badly in prelims, but well in all your NABs, could you base an appeal on that? I know it's not likely, but I got almost full marks in all my prelims for Physics and Maths, but badly in the prelims themselves.

QUOTE(Shandogg @ Aug 11 2004, 02:02 PM)

AH Art, I was predicted and A, and if not , then a B - but marker gives me a C, My work was organised, plentiful, well layed out, accurate, and time consumin to say the least - so what can I do about it. I had 15 ppl in my AH Class, I was on of 2 which passed (both of us gettin a C) - the rest gettin a D or a FAIL. Am I liable to appeal for AH Art? is it possible?

Hope sum1 can help me here.

My Art teacher was talking about the AH I'm taking this year, and she told us that most of the markers for AH Art are really, really out of touch and don't appreciate what it is they are looking at when they see an AH Art. According to her the last thing we should think about is the mark we get, and we should just work on the portfolio and get a great standard for it, because art schools etc won't care about the mark, they will just view the portfolio themselves.

I don't know if you can appeal for Art, we were told we couldn't appeal for Higher Art at all. Don't know if it's true though.

#4021 What do you expect to get?

Jackson didn't shut up for an hour, lol... and Kimberley was utterly scandalised, as was I!

#4020 The 2004 Physics Exam

Posted by Silver on 03 June 2004 - 11:52 PM in Physics

Yeah, that's what it was! Most of my friends didn't get it because they didn't realise that.

I didn't think it was easy at all, but I'm not exactly overwhelmingly good at Physics. I'm okay at it, but that's all... so I don't know. I thought it wasn't HARD, but I certainly didn't find it easy.

#3885 What do you expect to get?

Posted by Silver on 03 June 2004 - 12:28 AM in Information Systems

I think I probably got an A.

The marking of our prelim was awful, it was marked by three different markers... for all the questions marked by two of the markers I got almost full marks (full for one question) I must have got around 95% for them- but the last marker was taking marks from everything, even when I got it right- she did it to everyone, if she didn't like their wording she took marks. And that dropped me from around 95% to 75%! My class was in an uproar over the marking, lol.

#3884 What do you expect to get?

I'm causiously optimistic, I think I may have managed an A.

#3882 The 2004 Physics Exam

Posted by Silver on 03 June 2004 - 12:18 AM in Physics

I put an A but if I did get one it wasn't a very good one.

#3881 The 2004 Physics Exam

Posted by Silver on 03 June 2004 - 12:17 AM in Physics

I think that one was possible... you used the charge of an electron or the mass or something. I don't remember. That's what I did...

Ididn't think it was easy or anything and I did really badly in my prelim, compared to how I thought, although I guess it was okay really... I *just* got a B. I hope I got an A in the exam though. I think I calculated that I got around 78% or something like that.

#3879 Higher Art & Design Exam

Posted by Silver on 03 June 2004 - 12:08 AM in Art

I had to do the stupid, awful architecture question, but I think I did okay, apart from the fact my black pen ran out towards the end when I was adding to my past answers and I had to use a blue one, which does NOT look good, dammit. Lol.

Mostly I found it alright... I did 1a and b, 3a, 8a and b and 10a.

#3748 What subjects are you taking

Posted by Silver on 01 June 2004 - 08:47 PM in New Sixth Years

I'm taking AH Art, AH Physics and Higher Phillosophy.

I had to get special permission to take three, lol. And they want me to join lots of activities. So I'm gonna join the newspaper, charities and yearbook... I'm *so* glad I have a relaxing year.

#3746 Uni

Posted by Silver on 01 June 2004 - 08:44 PM in General Chat

I'm doing the Architecture course at Glasgow School of Art... it's a Glasgow Uni course though I believe... I don't actually HAVE a backup at the moment... I don't want to do anything else, hehe... I guess Strathclyde would be my backup.

#3744 Muck-up Day

Posted by Silver on 01 June 2004 - 08:38 PM in General Chat

Blah, we got the same warning, so they came in before school and painted a naked person saying 'Welcome to Eastwood!' then hung around outside with water pistols attacking teachers and workmen... every single one was suspended for the day.

#3736 Higher Art: It's critical time

Posted by Silver on 01 June 2004 - 08:13 PM in Art

I somehow managed to get 100% on my prelim so I'm pretty confident, lol...

Gaveaway and I go to the same school so I'm doing the same as her, except the designers I'm doing are Starck and Mies van der Rohe. I think remembering his full name alone should be about 5 marks, dammit! lol
