hey i am currently sitting higher french but i have a few unanswered queries
what papers do you get a dictionary for?
what is the hardest part of the exam/course?
how much work is needed to pass?
any advice/tips?

Hiya,
You get a dictionary for both of the papers.
For me the hardest part was the listening && the translation (just depends on you).
Just like any other higher if you put in the work you get the result.
some other things:
I wouldn't worry about the Directed Writing, its pretty much the same thing that comes up every year, so you can more or less memorise stuff for it and you'll be fine.
You'll probably panic at first with the listening because of the jump from standard grade, but you'll get used to it after you've done a few
