Hey there!
I'm doing Biomedical Science in September and yes; a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree could be a possible route into dentistry. All you will do is go into 1st year dentistry at your chosen uni.

Its a possibility if you get a 2:1 but I'd contact the uni for more info. Not sure how many post grad places there are available. You might have to fund yourself as well since SAAS will already have paid for one degree.

On my note from SAAS it says the fees they're paying for me to study dentistry are £1735 for my first year anyway. I'd imagine the government gets some kind of discount though for paying everyones.

I was considering a route similar to this a few days ago ( I didnt get the grade I neededbut thankfully Dundee hav let me in for Dentistry)
If you apply for dentistry tho, they will quiz you as to why you didn't choose dentistry when you left school, because they're a bit pernickity that way, want you to be obsessed with dentistry and to have walked around with an itsy bitsy mirror in ur hand as opposed to a rattle/soft toy/barbie, but if didn't leave school and go straight into dentistry because of grades then it wouldn't be so hard I don't think.
The only thing to remember is that by the time you'd complete your degree, and ur dentistry course that will be 9 years at uni. Lots of money !! and you won't start working properly till you're about 27 !!!
Not trying to put you off tho !!!
I was told the preferred degree subjects for dentistry are pharmacology, pharmacy, biomedical science, biochemistry and anatomy.
Hope that helps smile.gif

Your advisor at uni should be able to give you some info too. There are some unis that will let u into dentistry after 1 year in a biology course, but only if you get top grades and pass the interviews etc. Very very very few people get in though. I wouldn't worry about it too much just now. I wanted to do medicine but didn't have the confidence to apply, now I'm halfway through a biochemistry degree I'm happy with what I'm doing and medicine isn't really in my mind now. Just saying you might find that after a while at uni you change your mind smile.gif
The race is long, and in the end it's only with yourself.
