How did you find the exam?

Also what did you think of the ideas of the passages and how do you think the close reading went?
At the moment - I'm personally not too optimistic...
I did question number 2 - about a key scene - for "The Crucible" and I did question number 8 - about a characters lack of harmony with society - for "Guests of the Nation".
Not feeling cofident in the slightest...

I though the passages were good, and there weren't too many evaluative questions

I had to twist number 8 a lot though; there were 3 really relevant questions for Othello but I hadn't got a clue where to start them, so I stuck with what I did know

"how did everybody find it?
i thought the essay questions were not bad, did the question about an entertaining scene - Friar's soliloquay (romen and juliet)
and a literal and metaphorical journey : Sparrow by Norman Mac Caig
don't have a clue how i did on the close reading... pain in the ass mostly, though i never really know how i do in close readings.. i thought, didnt properly finish the last question, but i don't think anyone really got that finished. only 3 people i've spoken to got the whole thing finished. as for me, "Two minutes to go" and i was only 1/4 through my already scrappy answer...owel hopefully i've passed cos i really don't want to resit it again next year

Everything always seems worst after the exam. I'm not sure myself I've read most of the questions correctly.

Justify your choice by referrring to the ideas and style of both passages
And no, I wouldn't advise discussing it either. The chances are that you were right

I've completely answered that one wrong... I guess the stress and nerves and stuff must have gotten to me, especially since I had very little time left to answer it.
Maybe I'll still pick up a couple of marks... but it was for 5 so could make the difference of my grade. Really mad atm.

For the writing, The poetry questions were horrible, i studied 3 poems and none were suitable. Luckily i still had hamlet and gatsby.

The close reading was ok, although it's definitely not my strong point, it was't one of the hardest ones we have had though, our prelim was harder.
As for the critical essays, I answered question 11 on Shooting an Elephant and question 13 on the poems Visiting Hour and Waiting Room. I struggled to remember my quotes for Shooting an Elephant though and my essay for that was much shorter than the poetry one!

Thought the close reading was okayish spent far too much time on passage 1 - was kinda confused about the whole attitude towards the "MTV generation" just scrabbled an answer down and was left with 25 mins on passage 2 and the q's on both passages - luckily there were loads of (U) questions in passage 2 and managed to write an answer for the last one - didnt fully finish it tho.
For the essays I picked no 10 for my non-fiction was so worried I was the only one from my class doing that question and thinking I was doing it totally wrong but everyone seems to have done that so feeling a bit better.
Did q3 for Death of a Salesman - but I think my essays were probably to short.
Hope you all did well - personally I have no idea what I will be getting come august!

Essays; Did question four on relationships, went really really crap.
Did question 15 on a journey, did Kubla Khan and wrote about Coleridge's metaphysical journey through hedonistic debauchery.

I don't really know how I did. I did the last question wrong (wrong focus) but I should get a couple of marks.
Essays on Romeo and Juliet's Act 3 Scene 1 being shocking and the passionate disagreement against capital punishment on "A Hanging" were total signed, sealed, delivered though.
Away to get the wheelbarrow out for a long deserved bonfire!
