What exactly do you need to know from Higher Maths for Advanced Higher Physics?

Is there anything from Advanced Higher Maths that is beneficial to know for AH Physics aswell?

If anybody, knows that would be great.

everyone who did both AH physics and maths in my year said that its best taking both, cos they are useful to each other.

I'm taking both this year, though only Higher Maths, i wanted to know so i could teach my self what was needed for the AH Physics course before i go back in August.

I am taking AH Physics and AH Maths so I don't think I have a problem personally. I don't think you will either. i haven't done AH Physics so obviously i cannot comment but all I am saying is don't worry! If you struggle with a bit of Maths in Physics during the year. Ask your teacher for help of us on the forum.

It's not that i think i may struggle with the maths, it's just that i would prefer to know how to do the specific requirements of the higher Maths course before hand, if that makes sense.

I did AH Physics this year and had only done Higher maths the year before, didn't take AH Maths and it was fine

Right AH physics does not contain any hard maths.

You will need a basic knowledge of calculus (way easier than higher maths C level). However, you need to understand the second derivative (AH, but really not hard).

Everything else is just easy arithmatic - standard grade maths level really. The formulae are not hard to rearrange.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Thanks werlop, the calculus stuff won't be a problem, though i might have to go out of my way to find out about the second derivative.

Now all i have to do is be allowed to sit AH Physics.

Second derivative is easy, instead of dy/dx you have d2y/dx2 or instead of f'(x) you have f''(x).

Pretty simple as when you derive the derivative of a function you get the second derivative and so on. When you integrate the second derivative you get the derivative, easy, yes?

You need to understand this for deriving the equations of motion.

The only other calculus you need are the standard derivatives of sin(ax + b) and cos(ax + b).
