We had an admissions officer from Edinburgh University in the other day and he said that from this year on, we are only allowed to apply to 5 courses through UCAS... Is this true?

Yeah it is as our deputy head teacher told us and i was at a university fair in Glasgow yesterday and there was a UCAS talk which also said 5 choices.

Just checked the UCAS site and it says "a maximum of six". Don't know who to believe

I thought this was for people applying to medicine and dentistry. If you applied to 4 medical/dental schools then you were only allowed one backup choice. Didnt know it was accross the board.

Thats just as well because I could only find 4 courses I want, and at least I now only have one more to figure out!

Yep, 5. Gah. mad.gif

What I do like is the fact that the different universities can't see where you've placed them, so x doesn't know if it's your 1st or 5th choice smile.gif. Makes it much more fair IMO.

Yeah sign up to the UCAS website and see I am having real trouble choosing just 5.

You don't have to choose 5. You can choose up to 5. I'm applying with only 4 choices.

You are even allowed to make choices, send it in and change your mind later and add some more, though I think they do not allow you to remove choices.
