Just a wee question which Im sure i should know but dont so any help would be great thanks.
It gives a table :
Compound Enthalpy of combustion/kj mol^-1
methanol -715
ethanol -1371
propan-1-ol -2010
Why is there a regular increase in enthalpies of combustion from methanol to ethanol to propan-1-ol?
Thanks

Because there is a regular increase in CH2 homologous units in each successive step
