Hi im a bit confused, im applying for accomadtion in Queen Margaret University and they offer premium rooms for extra cost. dont no if its worth gettin a premium room as it seems the only difference is that thers a double bed.?
Also has anyone applyed for accomadation? and how many people are in your apartments/ we hav the option of 3 or 6, and im unsure what to pick?

Only way i could see that may justify it is that you could fit someone else into a double bed, which is good if you're bringing someone back. wink.gif Otherwise, I'd stick with the single bed room.

Oh for goodness sakes Jamie.

I lived in not-so-posh student halls this year. Prison like...white brick walls, light green doors, no microwave or fridge, echoey toilets that are shared with 30 filthy peasants....3am fire alarms... yetI loved every minute of it! happy.gif

If its only for a year, don't waste your money cos you'll no doubt have a BLAST anyway.

I'd pick 3 folks, less squabbles!

was thinking of picking 6 people because in that case if i dont get on particularly well with one or two of them then there will be plenty more people in my halls section bit ?

plus was jst wondering if the double room will b much bigger and have more space or jst slightly bigger 2 fit a double bed?

You could always just call up the university and ask if you could arrange a visit to the halls of residence. They'll probably let you since you're a prospective student, or at the very least give you all the info you need.

I'd go for sharing with 6. I f you can't choose the people theres a higher chance you'll get on with some of them.

You'd probably be better spending the extra money you'd spend on a bigger room on other stuff. If the halls are just new surely they should be a decent size anyway and in pretty good shape?

I lived in halls this year. My room consisted of a bed, desk, wardrobe, chest of drawers and was made with white breeze blocks. I lived with 7 other guys. Initially there were problems, but once we all settled down we all got on (well 7 of us hated one guy, but he was using so that explains that).

We had a blast. Basic rules - you'll hardly be in your room except for sleeping (and cramming the week before the exams!)

You had a chest of drawers! You lucky thing tongue.gif (Am I right in thinking the RGU halls are quite new?)
I only had the bed, desk, shelf thing, wardrobe, hard chair, soft chair, sink and cabinet thing.

I move out in 5 days! I'm going to miss my wee room. Its like a bedroom, livingroom and kitchen all in one sometimes!! White bricks and green doors....oh how I shall miss them too. Not.

Hmmm, the only picture I have to show of these lovely whote and green corridors is of Sali happily nicking a fire escape sign off the wall..

Haha. You gotta love breeze-block architecture.

That's what my home will be like come October.

"Architecture based on a Scandinavian prison"....its the rumour that goes around every halls of residence anywhere I think. rolleyes.gif

Don't diss halls though. For the year, halls are adequate enough even if they do resemble a prison. You get far worse than what you see there - its amazing how soon you get used to it though, to be honest. And it was great fun biggrin.gif - I have just had the best year of my life living there ph34r.gif Its such a good laugh!

(Its a pity I dont have pics of the showers or toilets as they were particularly grotty (and echoey) tongue.gif)

No, from the (very) few I've seen round Aberdeen really does have grim accomodation.
On the bright side it is a cheaper and at least it's hard to break anything.

You can fit two people in a single bed, Jamie. I've done that before. With a girl friend, nothing kinky. Honest. tongue.gif

It just means it's a bit cosier!

I'd say go for the single, you'll save a bit of money that way. Money's a glorious thing when you're a student, save at every available opportunity.

I agree. Save.
