I started by doing:
log to the base x (2x *64) = 3
log to the base x (128x) = 3
and after that im not really sure... any help appreciated

Bit of a starter for you;
logx2x + logx8 = 3
so, by the logxa + logxb = logxab, ( http://www.hsn.uk.net/files/HSN23300.pdf , page 4 [136] )
logx2x + logx8 = 3
is equivalent to logx16x = 3
logx2x + logx8 = 3
