Hi am in S6 and just started Higher History today. It looks very interesting and I hope it's like Mod Studs because that's what I've done up to now. I quite enjoyed Mod Studs at Int 2 so hoping to do history now.

I wanted to but there was a clash between Business Management and Modern studies so had to pick something else because Business Management is my favourite subject. Stupid option form.

in answer to your question modern studies and history are similar in some ways apparently i dont know personally since i didnt do mod studies but the guy tht sat next to me in the higher history class did and he said there was. There is an essay question paper for a start

I do wish I had done history at standard grade but have always been interested in social issues and as I got a great mark in a test for Modern Studies in 2nd yr I decided it would be a good choice.

I started it the other week as well - got a 1 for standard grade history smile.gif

(my only 1, in fact *huff*)

Looks like loooaaads of writing - i knew some people who sat higher history last year, complaining of aching hands after the exam =D

exam isnt overly strenuous, most people make the mistake of writing too much narrative and thats why they leave with sore hands

I enjoyed higher history too. I did it at standard grade, but appaerntly its a great subject for crashing.

I was worried about the writing side of things because I'm just so rubbish at writing essays and structuring them etc...and I'd heard all this stuff about having to write a lot of essays. But if you try and enjoy the subject and learn all the information and facts given it makes the essay writing sooo much easier. smile.gif Plus, you do it over and over again so there's plently practice and stuff.

hey miss macleod...glad u liked history 2. smile.gif
i didnt even do history as a standard grade so it just goes to show wot a little hard work can do. i wish that i took the subject up ealier so that i cud have sat advanced higher history.

i only got a three in standard grade, but i did higher in fifth year - passed my nabs, but only got a D in the final exam and so i'm re-sitting it this year and i'm kicking myself the whole time, it's the worst feeling ever - listening to your teacher explain the different types of questions and answers for the paper two, when you've done them so many times sad.gif
