how would you say

"i worked alongside people from different countries"

J’ai travaillée ......... les gens d’autres pays. ??

J'ai travaillé avec les gens d'autres pays.

Don't look for anything too complicated - "I worked with" is the same as "I worked alongside." English is a very expressive language and you sometimes need to simplify what you want to say in order to get a good translation.
Remember you only make your verb agree with the subject if you are using an ETRE verb such as aller or a reflexive such as se laver (or if you are using a preceding direct object, but don't wanna confuse you!) Your past participle for all other verbs shouldn't have anything added to them to do with genders or plurals smile.gif

yeah i know, but i kinda sounds a bit plain.

Plain and correct is better than fancy but wrong! There's really no natural French way of expressing "alongside" in the context you give except from "avec" wink.gif

You can use your own dictionary as long as the invigilator checks it and there's no writing in it etc.

Lol it's probably the former actually. Today in the Modern Studies exam, nearly everyone was completely confuddled as to why there were 2 paper 2s. A lot of us nearly did the wrong one, and one girl actually did. All due to the fact that our teacher hadn't told us that there were going to be 2 papers. rolleyes.gif
Oh, and my English teacher never told us anything the whole year. Don't get me started on him!

Yeah that confused alot of people at my school aswell, somebody had 2 actually tell everyone what one to do!
And someboy did the wrong questions because hed seen ones that wed covered but nt in great detail, just so we could do the NABs and did them instead of electoral systems and voting behaviour. said he "didnt see them"

Bonne chance tout le monde! Et pas de panique!
If there's any more vocab needed, give us a shout.
A wee correction to make from Derek's post:
l'année prochaine (année is fem)
or you can use:
l'an prochain (an is masc)

Oopsy, sorted it! Just missed out the "e" by mistake! ph34r.gif wink.gif
