We're doing Lord of the Flies and Macbeth, what's everyone else doing?

I'm studying "Beloved" by Toni Morrison and then "The Crucible".

This is making me think we did far to much last year
I did, the conegatherers, romeo and juliet, the jaguar, and 3 other poems

Well we also have to do a personal choice, i read Graham Green's The Heart of the Matter, and we did one poem but the poem questions are too specific unless you do a lot of them which is more work than it's worth, or so i hear lol

I think if you do poetry you need to do at least 2 poems, maybe threee

The Jaguar by Ted Hughes, and 3 Robert Burns poems, To a Mouse, To a Bastart Wean and Tam o Shanter.

My english teacher was also a tutor and she said one of the people she was tutoring only did a book and a poem and she seemed to be shocked. I think she just gave us lots of stuff so we could pick what we were best at really.

yeah we were told only to do poems if we were good enough at them, where as there's alot more to write about with books and plays, although they are more time consuming

Oh, I did that last year! I'm quite happy that I know half of these poems. I didn't think they'd come in very useful.

So far we've studied a heck of a lot of poetry (The Jaguar being the main one I can remember), some short passages, our personal studies, Death of a Salesman and we may or may not be doing a novel.

Far much more work than fourth year... And it's not even the end of term. O.o;

I did more in one year of Standard Grade than in Higher. Our teacher for Higher didn't like to set us much work.

"Weekend" by some random bore
and some other short story by someone i cant quite remember, bout someone who goes on holiday in France, after having an abortion

depressin! my book was pritty shit, nothing half decent happend til more thn a third int the book *yawns*

We did Sylvia Plath - kinda depressing

Plath was very suicidal (before she gassed herself in an oven). This is very noticable in her poems - she talks about death quite a bit.

She was married to Ted Hughes and his German lover also killed herself - he definately had problems!

so far we have did our personal study and we looked at the play "A view from the bridge" by Arthur Miller. Doin TA the now. Dont know what texts we are doin after crimbo tho she hasnt decided yet.
