im doing advanced french this year and im trying to come up with ideas for what to do my backround topic on and im not getting anywhere. This is what the sqa website says about the content:
"Candidates may choose to explore an aspect of a country or countries where the target language is spoken. This background topic could have a geographical, historical, political, musical, or artistic focus."
If anyone has any ideas of topics i would be extremely grateful
thanks xxx

I don't really know what you're supposed to do with this "background topic" (?) but I'll post a few of my thoughts anyway...
Geographical: The French Alps? The National Park of Basse Casamance, Senegal?
Historical: The storming of the Bastille?
Musical: French/Parisien/Marseilles rap/hip-hop scene? Edith Piaf?
Artistic focus: Impressionist movement in France?

I think I remember my teacher saying that you can just write another essay on literature if you can't think of a background topic. I suppose it means doing more reading, but maybe it's something to look into if you're struggling to come up with something.

We're doing war-time France, which is quite an easy topic to cover. How about something like racial tensions that exist in France etc? I'm considering doing something along those lines, instead of the topic atm.
