right??.. umm.. that statement is basically, false. eg: there are 10 people in a group, i can guarentee you that on many issues, infact most issues, there is NO WAY all 10 will agree. What is best for a country is not always best for an individual, what is best for a state is not always best for an individual, what is best for a family is not always best for an individual in that family.

.. so if "greed exists in society due to capitalism", under socialism, everyone wouldn't be greedy??

1) evolution takes millions of years, not thousands
2) we havnt evolved, nor has any animal in "hundreds of thousands of years", our evolution will take a long time, and we will evolve.

No one would be taking a "big risk" in a socialist economy. If all goods are traded on the basis of need and ability to produce, then there are NO risks. There are only risks where market failures can happen - capitalist economies.

factors of production = Economics of scale
Economics of scale = The devision of labour, size of supply to be big. If there is a product thats essential and needed by may then??? someone's got to make an investment, a large investment. "anarcho syndicalist communes" dont exactly work.

I just wanna say the whole thing about "thats like saying sacrifice was inherant to Mexicans" is rubbish. Greed is not a decision it is an emotion, an automatic thing if you will. Sacrifice is a decision and is carefully calculated and even if it is an automatic thing because of obeying a false religion then who will be sacrificed is calculated and so the whole process is not automatic. Greed and sacrifice are so different things that you cannot compare them.

A group of about 60 demonstrators, some of them armed with sticks, were closed in following a stand-off with police.

Some 200 officers erected barriers and formed lines in an area near Edinburgh University. Half were in full riot gear including helmets and shields.

A police spokesperson said some of the black-clad protestors were wearing padded clothing and had been spotted as potential trouble makers. The situation has been controlled without any arrests being made so far.

What is everyone thinking about the possible violence which could come up in the next few days in Edinburgh?

The G8 summit is usually marred with such violence, and tends to be in my opinion quite out of order.

More of a disgrace that the paper passed four months ago in parliament, allowing peaceful protest within earshot of the G8 leaders at Gleneagles, is now being informally revoked. The protest was thus justified.

I would say that I support "direct action" on behalf of the protestors. But mindless police bashing is useless.

There is a well organised group of anarchists called the "Black Blok" (or "Block") who are usually a big presence at the G8 protests. They come kitted out with armour, helmets, etc and are very well equipped to battle the police. And rightfully so if they judge the police to be overly aggressive. Genoa, for example.

I believe the police have decided not to use pepper-spray, rubber bullets or water-cannons here though. Which is always good news.

i think the black shirt people were in edinburgh today. 60 of them the police said

they were encircled and sorta "moved" out of the area and kept securely away from the protest and well everyone basically

I did note this part of the bbc.co.uk article:

A number of protesters complained of being photographed by police as they made their way to Scotland.

Among them were three coach loads of people from Belfast who said they were held at Stranraer by police, photographed and had their bags searched.

Elsewhere, campaigners who took trains from Euston said they were not allowed to make the journey until officers had taken their pictures.

I don't find this type of police behaviour encouraging to say the least. The police keeping photographic records of protestors...sounds a bit 1984 to me .
