Coarse Grained Synchronisation - This is used to synchronise different components, e.g. a video clip and a sound clip.

Fine Grained Synchronisation - This is used for synchronisation between components, e.g. two or three sound clips which are played one after the other.

Synchronisation Arcs - This is used to synchronise components by passing details of synchronisation to the run-time system. It allows the author to specify fine grained synchronisation. They ensure that different media remain suitably synchronised.
It consists of 3 parts:
  • Source and destination components.
  • Scheduling interval.
  • Synchronisation type.
