2003 Paper 1 Question 6 on vectors......need help!!

how do u do this question?

I can only get as far as doing AB=b-a which i got an answer to.

ok then this is section formula i think not that i can remember it

if you look at the line you have AB and AD

AD is 3 times the size of AB

You know AB (3,2,-1)

so you can work out AD as its 3 times (3,2,-1) which gives (9,6,-3)

to find the point D

AD = d - a
(9,6,-3) = (x,y,z) - ( -1,-3,2)

which gives D(8,3,-1)
