Pass Mark

Hey

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about people not doing very well in essays, etc. The past two years, the pass mark for an A has been 64%. I don't have much knowledge on tis right now but is it likely that this will remain in place this year, or will it rise?

Cheers!

It was still only 65% in 2002 so I can't see it rising much past that, if it does at all.

Yes it was 64% for an A lat year. They have to prove that exams are standardised so that one year isnt more disadvantaged therefore although it probably will rise a bit I dont see it going up past 67%, so the perecentage for an A will be somewhere between 64 and 67.

What was the percentage for a B and C last year?

46% for a C
55% for a B

That is quite low for a B.

No no thats not the marks last year surely not.
I thought it was 45 for a C
56 for a B

No? I know they are on the SQA report from last year but can't be bothered finding it.

Since the close reading was probabably easyer i would think each boundary would probably increase by around 2% from last years. dry.gif

I'd say 3 or 4% but maybe your right.

A and B may go up by that but but C usually never varies by over 2 % unsure.gif

Woohoo! That is soo low, I might actually get an A for english, might. smile.gif
Thats extremely low compared to maths, which is 78% this year for an A. Which I think is a bit high, but i'm not one to argue with the SQA unsure.gif

I agree that it should be a higher pass mark for Maths though
