I'd stay and enjoy 6th year. It's a once in a lifetime experience. You have the rest of your days to travel. Uni... all students struggle for cash - it's part of the fun!!

i thought u were going 2 uni and not staying....? or am i mistaken??? probably the latter!! biggrin.gif

As prefects, we have to sign up to at least one committee. Some how I ended up on Social events, Charities and Publicity! Also, if you are in a position of authority (Head Boy/Girl, Deputy or House captain) you have to go on senior committe which basically makes all the decisions regarding seniors. So there's another committe for myself. Yay.

what is this team building idea all about i don't do it at my school and if you saw the SMT you'd see why but it strikes me as one of these stupid ideas the MD of a failing company gets to save everyone from there social isolation. It seems to me that it cannot ever hope to achieve its goals and so is a waste of time

I'm sure you all could find a better way of showing team spirit outside of school however wink.gif

This is assuming the end of 6th year:
I suppose what makes it good is being proud of what you have accomplished throughout your secondary school experience. I also suppose that it is the end of the transition of being a child/adult and it looks forward, to the life ahead of you.

6th year is good because if you get all your grades in 5th year, then really you can have a stress free year! You can do subjects which you enjoy and specialise with Advanced Highers.
Also I felt even in 5th year, the teachers treat you a lot more differently and you can even have a laugh with some of them! It is also a chance to do other things which are useful to you which aren't purely "academic" subjects.

Curling up on a sofa in the common room in a spare period. Oh the bliss! And little annoying brats being frightened of you because S6 prefects can supposedly log people.
The joys smile.gif

I'm not sure if S6 will be that good. I'm not so happy with my Course Choice and all but 1 of my closest friends have left school! Ah well

What's wrong with your course choices? Can you change them?

Yeah I'm gonna see the Assistant Head on the first day back I think to change it, so it might not be all that bad smile.gif

Have you not started back yet?

Dave

Posted 19 August 2004 - 08:20 PM

some people (not me) stopped like a week late so go backa week late

Anyway, S6 is good for the fact that even more people in your year leave so you get a closer nit group of S6's that i really like(We only have 20 odd S6's so S5/6 regi classes, in mine there are 6 of us to an army of S5's)

We're probably about that as well, maybe a little less. Still plenty of snobby pains hogging the common room. mad.gif

Sixth year seems fun just now, because if your pals are in a class and you're not, you pretty much HAVE to talk to people you haven't spoken to before. It helps you make new friends.

And just now I'm only doing two subjects (we don't know if AH French is running yet) so I get to go home super early. Hoorah!

you all seen to come from large school i mean in first year my year was only around 170 never mind after 4th years leavers and my head of year actively trying to get rid of all people that would get 4-5 highers because they couldn't offer us a demanding enough timetable

i have two free columns in my timetable which is 1 too many as far as my school is concerned but anyway i cannot have driving lessons during this time or go home i have to study and the head of year comes into the common room every so often and threatens to plant anyone not working into a class they hate for the rest of the year

We are going to some careers thing on tuesday I think! To get prospectuses.

I haven't been in our common room all that much, its not that great, and its painted bright red and blue (I am sure Lindsay will back me up!) biggrin.gif

6th years been great so far - only doing subjects I enjoy and have plenty of free time, while working hard at the same time ofcourse wink.gif
