What did you think of it?

I thought it was OK, but found it harder than the specimen paper. Hmmm...

But easier than the other past papers. blink.gif

Which essay did you all do? I did essay B. i was rushed for time Section A question 3 wot did u get? huh.gif I found explaining my answers difficult, but the passage for the data analysis was understandable unlike some past papers. What is facilitation in an autogenic succession (section 2 question 4a)?

Hope it was k. smile.gif

I am not sure where to post but I am starting my AH Biology in June and I was wondering what the units were.

Are these them?

Cell and Molecular Biology
Environmental Biology
Biology Investigation
Physiology and Exercise

This is what has been written in my schools course choice book.

Yeah pretty much. The last unit is a half unit and you can do either Physiology and Exercise, biotechnology or somethingelse, I cant remember. I did biotechnology- it was pretty straightforward.

Thanks

I found out that the ones I mentioned are all compulsory apart from Physiology and exercise which is optional.

For AH Biology, are you only meant ot post here?

Yup, Physiology is optional and most schools choose to do it. I think only 1 school in Scotland does Biotechnology lol. It's the easiest unit out of the three, but in the exam most of the marks are for Units 1 & 2.

So, has anyone decided what topics they are doing for their investigations yet?

My AH Bio course officially starts tommorrow, so we will see

Ok, I've started thinking about my AH Investigation.

I came up with the idea tonight of investigating the effect of beta blockers on heart rate - take my own pulse every hour for however many hours I'm awake in a day, and then compare this when I'm off the beta blockers (in a few weeks) to see if there is a measuarable difference (there is, I know this already). Would this be acceptable as a possible project?

Thanks

I have an idea for mine.

I don't really like the fact that there isn't a proper textbook and only the monographs and Scholar - does anyone have any textbook reccomendations?

For my investigation I am going to do stuff about catalase in liver and its promotion of the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. I am just going to look at different factors which could affect the rate of reaction. I have done a bit of web research so that I know what is going on. My god, there are nearly 30 people in my AH Bio class, which is a huge number. A few people will be taken out - the weakest ph34r.gif

Hey. could anyone tell me what the biology investigation is all about. do u just pick one topic or several? im a bit confused with it unsure.gif

YIC

You just need to ask your teacher as he / she will know best. However, you do get a huge range of possible investigation ideas meaning that you can do nearly anything. E.g. there was someone that investigated the birds in her garden and it got a great mark.

30 people!!! My god that's huge?! How many are actually being allowed to continue with it? We've got 5 in ours smile.gif wow so you've started planning your investigation already? It doesn't have to be completed til some time next year! Still, better safe now than rushing at the last minute I guess... I'd like to do mine on something to do with genetics but haven't got a clue where to start. Trusty old fruit flies I suppose rolleyes.gif

Maybe 5 will be taken out or something. However, there are 4 people from another school but for the past 2 weeks they haven't turned up so maybe there will be no need to kick anyone out.
