#814812002 - Multiple Choice - Q12

It is known that protons and neutrons are made up of smaller particles called quarks.

Each proton and each neutron contain 3 quarks,

What is the approximate number of quarks in 1g of carbon-12?

a. 6x10^23
b. 9x10^23
c. 1.8x10^24
d. 2.16x10^25

i dont understand how its any of these? if 12g of carbon is 6x10^23, how can 1g be any of those? even if it does contain 3 quarks.

i think it should be

12g -------> 6x10^23
1g---------> 6x10^23 / 12
no. of quarks 6x10^23 x 3/12

Hello

yea sorry i get it now, it was late i was rambling.

I actually havea genuine question about 2002, question 4b)

The reaction FeS and FeCl -----> H2S + FeCl

In FeS iron is sometimes present as an impurity. Name the other product which would be formed in the reaction with dilute hydrochloric acid if iron metal is present as an impurity.

The answr is hydrogen but how?????

I did that question recently. All i did was look at the diagram there, and there were bubbles cumin out, and if u look at the equation the only gas that could be formed is hydrogen. Thats all there is to it really. Plus its only 1 mark.

There is no diagram.

I went over it with my chem teacher.

The use of the plastic bag was to CONDENSE WATER VAPOURS
It was addition polymerisation

any other question?

oh and for the record usually in chemistry, especially with questions on experiments, there is usually only one purpose.

nonono. not to disallow cheaters. It was to make the test more reliable, its harder to test a gas than a liquid.

My bio teacher told me that chromosome walking has been taken out of the syllabus, is this true? I hope so as it's one less thing to learn!!!
