#22099 Socialism etc.

Posted by Moral Fabric on 11 May 2005 - 01:13 PM in General Chat

I've just joined HSN and I was guided towards this argument by a current member and friend, ermdeviation. I'm a Capitalist on a personal level and but I have to agree with some socialistic views and policies like Benefits and free healthcare, etc.

However it does not work. It is highly unreasonable to think that by turning a world into equally distributed wealth that it will work, there are people in this world that just would not conform, some people strive for more. Majoritably mankind would benefit, but in the long run it would just lead to a huge revolution because of personal wants becoming 'needs'.

Maybe it is just my view, but I cannot see a world working purely on Socialism or Capitalism, a blend will need to be created, a fair one, where it is possible to progress in life and become wealthy without being taxed 90%, but with poverty and crime non existent and human rights adhered to.

It i this Utopian situation that, both sides of the coin, whether Socialist or Capitalist, strive for, but arrogance causes them to rarely see the advantage of the 'opposing' side. A blend must be created, fairly to achieve what both parties are after before another cold war is initiated.

Thanks for reading,
Regards,

Andi ph34r.gif

We live in a country with a mixed economy and it has not ended poverty or crime. To me the Welfare State has served to prove a point: that watered down, social-democractic policies will not acheive their Socialist objectives because they still rely on a capitalist economy - an economy which breeds inequality and injustice.

That's just your opinion though, and granted. mine is an opinion also biggrin.gif

#22157 HBM Archive 2004-2005

sorry bud, i have to disagree, if you put:

-Rights Issue - when shares are issued,

yes you should be deducted because you have not expressed an true understanding, maybe a 1/2 mark

how ever if i said

-Rights Issue - this is when current ordinary share holders are given the opportunity to buy more shares by a ratio, e.g. 1:2 this is when a share holder with 100 shares can buy another 200 from the company, relative. This can raise finance quickly for a company.

whats wrong with that?

poor misguided ermdeviation, when will you learn? lol,... Blair it teh Pwnz0r, he is a great leader, and the SSP are a bunch of hippies and you know it, your arguement is weak and opinuated as opposed to factual, unlucky son, lol dry.gif wink.gif

What Blair was told, was what he told us, And I'm not just some random guy that comes on to slag off people!!! check back, ermdev started on me first, when i made my arguemetn about capitlism and socialism in general,... now its became a dispute on whether or not Blair is a competant leader or not....
My point was that ermdev was saying other peoples ie my arguement was only my opinion, when blatantly so is his....
Dave and me are on a par i reckon, so far I agree with most of what he has said.

#23278 Maths - Pass Mark

Posted by Moral Fabric on 14 May 2005 - 10:01 PM in Mathematics

I was just wondering after reading another topic to do with difficulty,.. The pass mark for maths went up alot last year according to the SQA website and some people were saying 2004 was easy, so if its harder this year will the threshold lower,... even if its lower than last year would be good, lol

No the torys would have privatised more of the NHs and made an increasing number of procedures payable

The fact you brought up "top up  fees" implies you are just repeating the media and the SSP in this country we dont pay for fees so top up fees were never considered. In england students are required to pay tuition fees and the gov are saying that to solve the problem that uni's have no money then resource intensive courses would have additional charges placed on students. Actually it does make good sense really

If there is no money in your school i dont understand why because i happen to know people in St Micheals Academy and money is pouring in there and they are flatting the place soon
