I have the most incredible crush in all the world on a boy named Craig Stewart who lives down the hill from me. I have done since I was 13. He is goooorgeous.

I blog at LJ, but it's friends only, and also aaat www.beautifulsimplicity.net.

Unfortunately, I don't think that is me. Unless you stay in Fife?

#77904 Question

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 12 May 2006 - 07:58 AM in Physics

I am probably missing something obvious here but I do not get this question.

Calculate the speed at which the reletavistic mass of an object is equal to three times its rest mass.

There is no other information in the question. It is worth 2 marks. Can anyone help me here?

Thank you!

#65650 help

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 15 January 2006 - 05:01 PM in Revision and Exams

I'm the same. Sometimes I can revise and other I can't. It seems to be the nearer an exam the harder I find it to revise.

I think with me its a matter of motivation. If things start to go well then it helps a lot.

My advice would be to believe in yourself as that helps me. Increase your self esteem.

If you start revising and it doesn't go well the just stop! You are just waisting time and lowering you self esteem.

Also, say, "I'm going to revise at x o'clock and I will not give up until I have learned x, y and z." That tends to work with me (sometimes).

Good luck!

#56630 Course Materials

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 05 October 2005 - 05:27 PM in Mathematics

I agree with you on saying Scholar is insufficient. The Scholar notes are great but as a extra to other materials. The online Scholar notes are also brilliant. Ask your teacher if you have a Scholar password. You should get a Maths in Action textbook with lots of questions you can do. Personally, I use the best of several materials.

Great help, thanks!

#56492 Personal Statement help

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 03 October 2005 - 07:24 PM in Course Choices

I want to do engineering at Heriot Watt university and am working on my personal statement. Is there anyone who I can PM/email my personal statement to for constructive criticism. I got a D in higher English so someone who is good at English would be a help. Also someone with some experience or writing a personal statement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

#56454 HD DVD or Blue-ray

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 03 October 2005 - 05:13 PM in General Chat

I think I will go for Blu-ray but I will look more into it before making any decision.

I will probably get a PS3 which supports Blu-ray and then also buy an HD DVD player. Then you get the best of both worlds.

What are your opinions?

#56350 Question: First Principals

Thanks! I got most of that apart from a couple of lines.

How did you get that above? I thought you put 0 in place of h but would that not give you 0 since you are dividing by 0?

#56324 Question: First Principals

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 01 October 2005 - 06:33 PM in Mathematics

I have got that part but how do you do the simplifying in order to work it out?

#56307 Question: First Principals

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 01 October 2005 - 12:46 PM in Mathematics

Derive the following from first principals.

F(x) = e powerx.gif

Can someone please show me how to do it.

Thanks!

#54289 Easy question...

Posted by Floorball Maniac on 15 September 2005 - 07:24 PM in Physics

This questions looks simple and I think I know how to do it. The only problem is I cant get the right answer. It's from Scholar. There could be a chance the answer is wrong. The question uses higher knowledge only.

A piano is being raised to the third floor of a building using a rope and pulley. The piano is m above the ground, moving upwards at m s -1 , when the rope snaps.
Calculate how much time (in s) elapses before the piano hits the ground.

Can someone do the question and see what they get.

Thanks in advance folks!
