QUOTE(John @ Feb 21 2007, 09:44 PM)
It's just a standard Integral, rearrange the fraction so you have no x terms on the bottom

so its then becomes... 2x [^-2] dx

then i become stuck

I apologise for the lack of mathamatical knowledge.

### #91629Btw......this unit I've been "doing" for the past few weeks....

Posted by on 05 December 2006 - 09:22 PM in Mathematics

...I know none of it!

Im Sh*t at maths.....sorry for the language but it really frustrates me how I can't jsut sit and focus.

Or "get in the mood" to even begin to learn.
It really is hard!...for me anyway.

I don't want to, yet I need to.
And that makes me feel guilty.

Oh and another thing.......the notes for certain topics on here...DO NOT work for me, my computer doesn't accept them. Which is quite annoying when I am trying to self teach and therefore I jsut give up again.

It makes me feel bad that I couldn't care to know any of this in-depth higher stuff.
BUT
I must be here for a reason.
There MUST be something in me that's making me want to learn.

So, here I am.....ready to get stuck into "understanding integration".
*shivers*
Thanks, for reading my rant. Hope I haven't offended.
I'll post later with some of my actual mathematical problems.

The question was...

Find the equations of the tangents to the curve y = x^3 -9x + 4 which have gradient 3.

If that the explanation on how to do that, above? ^ ^

Sorry I should have posted the question to begin with.
