I got it wrong as well, I took a guess with the diode one, it was a fifty fifty chance.

I also did the same thing for the irradiance Q got half way though the paper, looked at the irradience Q later on and it had the unit down as Wm^-3 went "OMG THATS THE ANSWER!" went back and changed the multiple choice answer. Haha. I love when that happens.

Good paper strange there was no projectiles or momentum questions in the second half. Guess we can say what will defo be in next years paper now lol.

I'm praying for my B I think I did it, and I was just so happy there were alot of theory questions in it.

Most of the stuff I thought that was going to come up didn't but what the hell was that op amp questions about!

yeah I know your all sick and tired of me by now.

10a) express sin x = - root3 cosx in the form ksin(x-a) where k>0 and 0<=a>=2pie

I got::

sinx - root3 cosx = ksin(x-a)

hence

ksin(x-a) = k (sinxcosa - cosxsina) = ksinxcosa - kcosxsina = kcosasinx - ksinacosx

kcosa = 1 and ksina = root3

so
k = root (3 +1)
k = root 4
k = 2

tana = ksina/kcosa = root3/1 = root3
a = tan-1 (root3) = pie/3

since k = 2 and a = pie/3

sinx - root3cosx = 2sin(x-pie/3)

==> I'm pretty much 100% sure this part is right...

b) sketch y = 3+sinx - root3cosx

from part a
y = 3 + 2sin(x-pie/3)

and it all went sunnyside down from there...I'm pretty much hitting a brick wall with this thing I've had a look at the SQA answers but I have no idea where there getting the numbers from etc

My college isn't doing a second prelim this year because no one turned up to sit it last year haha, and my mum was rushed in to hospital two days before my maths prelim so I couldn't sit it....guess who has nothing to fall back on. I really wish they were doing a second prelim because I don't evn have a bench mark to try and study off. Though saying that anything can be better than what I got last year.

hello there strangers...slightly stuck and would totes love it if someone could help me.

"if cos 2x = 7/25 and 0<x<2pie find exact values of cosx and sinx"

I have this so far.

cos 2x= 7/25

since cos2x = 2cos^2x-1 then

2cos^2 x-1 = 7/25
2cos^2 x = 7/25 + 1 = 32/25
cos^2 x = 32/50

its going from there to the last step,how do I get rid of the square on the left hand side the SQa marking says cos x = 4/5 and sin x = 3/5 but I can't get it to come out right

those here last year will remember how badly I bombed the whole course last year. I got 2% in the prelim last year and shockingly...a No Award in the final...passed the NABS though so that was a blessing. This year so far I've got full marks in the 1st and 2nd unit nabs (wh00000t) and I've been getting around 60-70% in all the AB tests weve done (my college LOVE to test us) so hopefully I'll get a B in the prelim next week...I'm shitting it tbh.

That is slightly worrying, have you emailed the SQA to tell them about it? I'm pretty irritated at the lack of practice for the multi choice then again the multichoice is a huge bonus for us and compaired to the paper last year (which I came out of cring) it looks like this year may be slightly easier. And lets face it if you really have no idea theres a one in four chance of getting it right haha.

I was meant to be going to see the Dykeenies at the end of the month, but their PR messed up with review tickets and she has none left now. Sob!

They weren't that good opening for McFly (I was at the Glasgow gig) but I saw them openiong for Fall Out Boy in August and in King Tuts and they were so much better with a small crowd.

After like 9pm "The Watershead" you can swear I think, but there is a limit on how many times you can swear or something. Apparently there is a big fight in this episode. I love this program <3 Ramsey grew up in Greenock which is like, across the river from me.
