### #100131 Biomedical Science - Dentistry < help ?

Posted by Pammy on 17 August 2007 - 01:28 PM in After School

If you apply for dentistry tho, they will quiz you as to why you didn't choose dentistry when you left school, because they're a bit pernickity that way, want you to be obsessed with dentistry and to have walked around with an itsy bitsy mirror in ur hand as opposed to a rattle/soft toy/barbie, but if didn't leave school and go straight into dentistry because of grades then it wouldn't be so hard I don't think.

The only thing to remember is that by the time you'd complete your degree, and ur dentistry course that will be 9 years at uni. Lots of money !! and you won't start working properly till you're about 27 !!!

Not trying to put you off tho !!!

I was told the preferred degree subjects for dentistry are pharmacology, pharmacy, biomedical science, biochemistry and anatomy.

Hope that helps

Wasn't very pleased about the essays tbh, but I can't say I like essays at the best of times !!

Thought the multiple choice was a bit trickier than I expected too !!

I need an A in bio for my uni course tho so I've got my fingers crossed !!!

Hope everyone else did well

### #96855 deMoivre's Theorem

Posted by Pammy on 10 May 2007 - 10:52 AM in Mathematics

(a) Given that -1 = cos + i sin , - < , state the value of .

(b) Use deMoivre's Theorem to find the non-real solutions, z and z , of the equation z + 1 = 0.

Hence show that z =-z and z = -z .

Any help would be hugely appreciated !!

Cheers

### #93596 Yet another Differentiation question

Posted by Pammy on 02 February 2007 - 08:36 PM in Mathematics

I'm stuck again, and any help would be appreciated

Differentiate: -2 cosec x

So I did this : = (-2 cosec x)

dy/dx = 4. -(-2 cosec x cot x)(-2 cosec x)

= 8 cosec x cot x . -2cosec x

= -16 cosec x cot x

But the answer is....... 8 cosec x cot x

Can anyone shed a little light on this for me ??

Thanks in advance !!

### #90503 I dont know what to do!?!?

Posted by Pammy on 29 October 2006 - 09:00 PM in Physics

I was ok at unit 1 and 2, but I failed my unit 3 nab and I was gutted, my teacher was distraught, and was pretty harsh on me. I then went on to get an A in my higher, so with the right amount of studying I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine !!!!!!!

Good Luck

It was sooo Harry Potterish !!! chuck some owls in there and hey presto you've got hogwarts !!

Thought it was really intimidating at first and told my mum I'd changed my mind and didn't want to go, but by the end of the day, I decided that I wished I was going this year !!!

Only done the dentistry tour 2day, was really annoyed coz I missed the aeronautical engineering and dentistry talks tho coz of the tour.

But all in all thought it was a great day, did u not think the students were so helpful ??!!!

I'm getting there through the subway to Hillhead (I think that's the name) from buchanan station or whatever its called. The uni was right next to it if I remember right.

Looking for directions to Glasgow Uni for 2moro, is it easiest just to get into buchanan bus station and get a taxi from there ??

How is everyone else getting there ?

*~* Pam xxx *~*

i wouldn't get a taxi, not worth it for the short distance, & the fact it'll probably end up costing a small fortune. probably the easiest way is to get the underground from buchanan st, either that or go to bath street & get a 44 bus out

Thanks very much for the advice !!!!!!!
