Hey. I'm a 2nd Year, doing course choices atm, but doing Higher Maths this year, and wondering whether Economics is available as a Standard Grade option? I'm not sure whether economics is available as an option, but I want to be an Economist, so I'm stuffed if I can't take it to Higher.

Depends whether your school offers it.

I'm pretty sure there is a course for it because I'm doing Higher this year and we have to learn all the Standard Grade stuff too because it wasn't an option for us.

I'm pretty sure there is a Standard Grade course - it's just whether your school runs it!

Also, I'm pretty sure all universities let you do Economics regardless of whether you have done it before!

Studying economics at higher or SG is not a prerequisite for any university that you wish to apply to. (in some cases this might be an advantage, but in 9/10 universities it is not)

Trust me, I am now in my final year of a joint with economics degree.

I just re-joined HSN so sorry if this is a bit late. I was exactly like you at school, and they did nto offer it at my school either. However, I took maths, accounts and business management and now I'm 6 weeks away from finishing 4 years at uni studying Single Honours Economics at the largest Economics department in Britain [Strathclyde]

I ended up leaving at the end of 5th year with AABBB and got in no bother. Also, most 1st year courses assume no prior knowledge, so don't worry about that either!
