for what course? where do you live? you can't just say one university is the best for everything.. it is also a subjective decision based upon what you like in terms of teaching/buildings...

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

I think he/she meant that he/she is undecided as to which university he/she should apply to. - Doesn't make sense does it?

It says at the very top "where to study accounts" btw. Although I never noticed this to start with!

Well out of the two I've been too, Strathclyde has the most flexible degree course for accountancy, as it can be done with lots of other business subjects in the Strathclyde Business School.

However, Glasgow has a really good reputation for accountancy aswell.

Look on http://www.gla.ac.uk and http://www.strath.ac.uk for more info about the individual courses as well as university life in general.

if you believe my business department they wil tell you strathclyde has the best business school but Glasgow does have a good reputuation as a university so will tend to attract the best staff and indeed students in scotland and maybe beyond

If i am not here i am somewhere else

No strokes honestly, in Scotland the best places in Scotland for accountancy are Glasgow and Strathclyde! It just so happens that they are local for u!

Would definately agree with you Louise. I would say they are both on par for accounting with not much between them. Your first choice may come down to personal preference. Especially if you've visited the open days.

Certainly I thought accounts at Glasgow looked impressive. But then again I am not looking to do an "accounting" degree, so you really have to just decide and go for it.

However I think you cannot go wrong with either Strathclyde or Glasgow.

Im going for Glasgow. The course looks excellent - there is the chance to do some Business Law, and the area where the Uni is, is really top class.

I don't really like Strathclyde and its just like going into town everday which I don't really want to be doing.

Its probably personal choice but I think Glasgow has got a better reputation since it is a "classical" uni.

My friend is going to the Business School at strathclyde to do accountancy I think - it pretty much comes down to personal choice as their both good in those areas.

Funny thing is he asked the guy at Glasgow's Open Day why he should go there and not Strathclyde and and he replied "Cause we're better!" tongue.gif

What about Heriot Watt? They have a very good reputation. it depends on your grades really. if you've got enough, I'd chose Strathclyde. It isn't half as "old school" as I'd say, as Glasgow is. I was impressed, but it just didn't feel technologically advanced enough.

So far as I understood things, if you take Accounting with another subject, then it is no longer accepted as entry to the chartered accountancy exams. Or is this a misunderstanding?

I know that Glasogw gives you maxim exemptions from the CA exams but Im not sure about Strathclyde. I read it gives you exemptions but not sure if it is as many as Glasgow.

Yes it does and is gradually getting an equal reputation with Glasgow in the professional world.
