If your school uses the web-based UCASapply you are allowed 47 lines.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Why not post it here (if your ok with that), it would allow us to help you round any bad sports that may or may not exist and also help others who are writing their personal statement. Mabye you don't feel that you would like to post it though.. up to you I guess.

If I were you I wouldn't post it on the internet as some people wouldn't think twice before copying it word by word.

Also, as werlop rightly said you are allowed 47 lines for your personal statement which is roughly 600 words. UCASapply sets your p.s to a default size 12 and font Times New Roman. The only editing options are underlining, bold, and italics.

If you would like help with it you could always pm your p.s to people, so that not everyone is able to see it and your only sending it out to members you trust.

I was so worried about doing my statement, but when I started writing it I had to cut stuff out of it because I had so much to write. So don't worry about it.

I did a rough draft last night and it's the most hillarious thing I've seen in weeks.

Needless to say, I haven't done much in weeks.

Seriously, what is with the constant hectoring attitude you have james. You do not know me, You CANNOT possibly say what I would or would not do. I suggested posting it here, never once did I say "you must do it", I even went as far as saying it might not be what one would want to do.

You don't see me doing it because I do not feel the need to do it. If I had a reason to do so, I would possibly consider it. Look around many other forums on the internet (eg. UK Learning, UK Medschool guide) and you will see that many people post their personal statement or suggest to others that they should post their's. You don't see them being flamed for it do you?

I agree with james1 about the problems of posting you're personal statement on-line. However, that doesn't mean james1 needed to include a personal jibe in his comment.

If people feel the need to post their personal statement online then that's up to them - I just felt that people needed to know about the consequences of posting their personal statements on the forum.

I agree with you Werlop, james1 should have advised; not demanded.

I am willing to say that perhaps it was not a brilliant idea to encourage people to share their personal statement over the net.

However:

I think there is a (perhaps unintended rolleyes.gif ) implication that I would be not entirely trustworthy...

If you really want to get help with your statement from people here, do it on a one-to-one basis through a PM.

Obviously this isn't a guarantee they won't copy it, but it's better than posting it to everyone I guess.

Just make sure they seem nice and trustworthy biggrin.gif
