I've got a question here from a practice NAB that's bothering me somewhat and I'm hoping someone can shed some light!

If 10ml of hydrogen is reacted with 10ml of propene, the volume of the resulting gas will be
A 5ml
B 0ml
C 10ml
D 20ml

This is an addition reaction so if you add hydrogen to an alkene the double bond breaks open(due to its desire to have a full tetrahedron around it) allowing two hydrogen atoms to join onto the molecule so:

C3H6 + H2>C3H8(Two hydrogen atoms added so it becomes propane)

Due to no mention of masses or concentrations you can simply use the volume ratios:

C3H6 + H2>C3H8
mole ratio 1 : 1 : 1
volume ratio 10ml:10ml:10ml

10ml of propene is formed so the answer is C
