this may seem a stupid question but when labour was leader of the government they planned to eliminate child poverty by 2010 they made alot of efforts and managed to decrease the amount of children living in poverty however now that SNP is in control do you think they will try and continue to eliminate child poverty?

Good question... I don't think it's in their policies much... I think they're mainly concentrating on an independence [hope it doesn't happen!] but it would be annoying if they didn't... looking at their manifesto now...

Well... here's some quotes that I found

QUOTE
We will pilot free nutritious school meals for pupils in Primary 1-3, starting in areas of
deprivation, and increase entitlement to free school meals for a further 40,000 children living
in poverty.
QUOTE
The introduction of free school meals, beginning with our youngest children and expanding
free entitlement for children in poverty

Other than those there are no mention at all in their manifesto about reducing child poverty

hope this was helpful tongue.gif cause I plan to use this in my essay now!

Not specifically about child poverty, but:

QUOTE(SNP Deputy Leader Ms Nicola Sturgeon MSP. March 2007)
The priorities of the SNP and Scotland are about using the powers we have and winning the powers we need to drive poverty out of our society for good.
