i'm not too good at the very first question in the past exam papers. Could someone please summaraise what i should be looking for in each of the following headings please. Thank you!
. Human Resources
. Operations
. Marketing
. Finance
. Other concerns.

This is what I usually do:
HR - looking at staff and training, problems may be - staff redundancies, hard to get new work, decrease in skilled staff etc
Operations - Production process - cant really explain it sorry!
Marketing - My teacher has told us to look at the 4 P's under this heading.
Finance - Looking at funding, problems may be lack of finance etc
Other Concerns - Always look at PESTEC for this eg any legislation hindering work etc.
Sorry for the jumbled response that is what I do in these questions and usually end up with 7or8/10 which is not to bad.

What i do is just underline all the problems the company has faced/is facing and try and seperate them into categories. Doesnt take long. Just as you are reading through it and try and think what department this would affect
If external factors comes up, always look for legislation that has been introduced etc. thats usually the easiest one

- selection process
- Training (including costs)
- rewards (wages etc)
- Staff motivation/ morale
- employment legislation.
Marketing- Product
- Price
- Place
- Promotion
(The four P's- about satisify consumer wants)
- Competition
- Changes in fashion/tastes
Operations- Inputs (raw materials, managing stock, purchasing stock, suppliers)
- Process (manufacturing, providing service, equipment)
- Output (storage, distrubution)
Finance- Cost of production, wages, setting up business etc
- Sources of finance.
