Hello, beautiful people.

Ok, as you probably know, I have Crohn's disease. It's an inflmatory bowel disease which affects about 600,000 people in the UK. It particularly affects teenagers and young adults. It's a pretty horrible condition to have. However, there really isn't enough help on the NHS for Crohn's sufferers - we still have to pay prescription charges, despite being on a million and one drugs which we will probably be on forever. There is also a severe lack of support for Crohn's patients. I'm one of the lucky ones, and there is actually an IBD nurse in my local hospital. She only started recently, though, which is why it took me 2 years of going to see my GP with stomach pains and a further two months after being hospitalised before there was a label put on what was wrong with me. This is where you can help.

The NACC (National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease) have a petition to get more IBD nurses into hospitals. I would really really appreciate it if you could fill it in online. The more people get involved and show support, the more likely it is that something will get done.

So if you just go here and fill it in, that's you. Easy peasy!

Specialist nurses are a complete God-send - it makes life so much easier if you can just give someone a phone if you've got any problems. Even if it's just for reassurance or information. So please do sign the petition and help out.

Thank you!

Yeah, it's been about for a while. I only just joined the NACC though, so that's me just found out about it.

I got a survey in from them a few days ago, though. It was great, asking me all sorts about being a young person with an IBD. I ticked the box at the end saying I'd be willing to talk to the press about it. I want back in the paper, damn it! tongue.gif

I once got a survey about having arthiritis at a young age. Or something.

One of the questions was "How do you feel about ending up in a wheelchair when you are older?" That made me a wee bit sad sad.gif

Oh God, that's a really horrible question to ask someone. I hope you wrote, "I just burst out crying because you asked that."

I got asked how IBD affects me ability in finding a partner or something. I told my mum this and she started laughing.

"That's just you personality that affects that!"

She's so caring.
