A friend had this as her MSN message and I was wondering what you all thought.

Vote and discuss cool.gif

Edit: After consulting my friend;

It's a big lie, sad crying

I have questions. Is it a BIG lie? Or is it a wee piddly lie?

And is it happy crying or sad crying?

I will not commit myself until I have answers.

Ooooh... What sort of a big lie can make you happy?

OH, like, "Hello there darlin', I definitely don't have a burd, let's get it on." when he really does have a burd, but you don't know that. So that would make you happy if you fancied the boy in question.

And the truth that could make you cry would be, "I know you're now up the duff with my baby, but hell, turns out I already have a burd! See ya!"

I am now with this and having a dilemma as to which is worse.

Pfft. New option on the poll.

I'd personally prefer the truth no matter how bad it is.

But wouldn't the lie make you cry and the truth make you smile on principal alone?

Not necessarily. Finding out the truth about something could be devastating. Finding out you'd been adopted or something. Whereas if your parents were to lie to you about it, you could lead a happy life. I'm not saying that finding out you're adopted doesn't make anyone happy. Hell, if I found out my Dad wasn't actually my father, I'd probably jump for joy! tongue.gif

I'm confused. All I know is that I'd rather know the truth and it hurt for a while, than go ages living a lie whilst being superficially happy. Probably not relevant though sad.gif

Well the truth hurts, get over it. lol. that's my attitude to it anyways. I wouldn't be happy to have happiness based on a lie

I'd rather someone was just straight with me, even if it's upsetting, instead of letting me think everything was great, when it wasn't.

Truth wins, hands down. All lies inevitably lead to more lying, and thats never a good thing. So, I think its better to put up with short-term unhappyness as opposed to long-term delusion.

Wow...that sounded almost philisophical! Go me!
