A little bit of Googling brought me across this site. It's a site run for students who're looking for student accommodation, and if you're either looking for a flatmate to fill a gap or you're looking to fill a gap yourself, you just post a notice for people to view. It seems pretty active, too, so you should get results. I'll probably end up using it myself once I get a job behind me.
