I don't think the course is as bad as I first thought. It is a big step up from higher - even bigger than from SG to higher I would say. I think it's quite challenging, but intellectually rewarding and preety interesting. I was pretty close to leaving the class early on becasue I thought irt was going to be a nightmare, but it's all worked out OK now, and I'm glad I didn't; lots did...
What are your thoughts?

i've been given 5 unconditional offers so this year was just kinda to mess about with.

This year's Fenella Feline (CAT) in Peterhead's Pantomine Pinocchio!

i don't find the course perticularily spectacular. i do just have a good class for banter.
except i'm the only girl and when they start talking about golf... goodness me *rolls eyes*

That's a shame. I think it has a lot to do with your teacher. I don't know about yours, but some aren't comfortable teaching AH.
What's different from what you expected?

But yeah, it is a little different from what I was expecting. It's not so much the content (which of course I like

I'd be glad if they stuck to golf. The boys in my class ended up with their legs in the air farting last lesson.

To be fair half the males were slightly disgusted too.

Advanced Higher is one of these basic skills courses which teaches the mathematical skills you need before you get to do some of the more exciting stuff later on. For example I ve had to do 1 and a half years of these kinds of courses at university before i ve got to applying the skills i learned in theses courses to problems in Applied Mathematics. The content of these courses are quite boring, and sometimes even soul destroying, but when you get to say 2nd year uni mathematics, thats when they start to introduce you to interesting stuff which you cant do without this prior knowledge.
Also for teaching a lot of them arent comfortable teaching Advanced Higher because its pitched at 1st year uni level work, which for some teachers is quite a while since they studied it themselves

I would probably have taken the sequences and series one, but unfortunately (in many ways) I have an exam that day so I had to pull out. I enjoyed it last time as well

I've found that by putting down one of the learning points, or formulae, or bits-to-remember or whatever you want to call them, on a bit of paper with a worked example underneath to demonstrate it's use works wonders come revision time! Only downside is, you need a fair bit of A4- my revision notes have almost become a textbook in it's own right

Taking it further into Mech Engineering at Uni, anybody else?

What is it specifically about the product and quotient rules that you are struggling with? Without knowing that the best advice I can give you is to do as many questions on both of these rules as you can until you feel you are confident using them. You do need to be comfortable using these rules as they form an important part of the course. With a bit of practice and making sure you get help when you need it you'll be differentiating in your sleep!

I sat the advanced higher exam just over a year ago and I'm now doing maths at uni so if you've got any other questions I can answer them for you.
