Emmanuel for me. I know someone there so i maybe biased. The accomodations are expernsive. I'm thinking of buying an apartment there rather then renting. I think it's cheaper. What are you deciding to do?

Cool, if you want any help before your interview then just ask. The people who interview there are REALLY nice.

As for rooms, they really prefer you to live in college, at least in first year. Rooms are relatively inexpensive for university rooms, and they are a lot bigger and have better features than most student accomodation. The prices are available here: http://ecsu.org.uk/welfare_and_services/accommodation

I would imagine that this is a lot cheaper than buying an appartment.

Who do you know at Emmanuel anyway?

I think the BMAT is a great idea as it differentiates between the people who have done the minimum to get by and the people who have really learner their stuff properly and can think on their feet.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Do the majority of people who study medicine at Cambridge end up in research or as clinicians? Sorry I'm not too knowledgeable about this. What are you planning to do?

Well even before you pass people will be offering you work. They even pay for your education if you agree to it. I'm thinking of doing a second degree after it maybe genectics.

I think more people end up doing research after graduating from Cambridge than other medical courses.

After 3 years you get a BA (hons) (CanTab) degree in medical sciences which is upgraded to a MA if you don't get put in jail and you survive for a further six years (strange I know). Everyone in Cambridge gets a BA after 3 years.

At the end of 3rd year you have to apply to clinical school. If you are really good you get to stay in Cambridge, if not you can choose to go to either Oxford or London.

Some people choose to go away from Cambridge for their clinical course.

Right now I am thinking that I would like to do some research at some point but clinical medicine does appeal to me as well. Cambridge to have an MBPhD programme for postgradute study after you get your BChir.

The BMAT is quite hard. The questions are not all that difficult, but the time you get to do it in is absolutely crazy!

There are specimine papers at http://www.bmat.org.uk/ although these were nothing like as difficult as the actual exam, they give you an idea of the format.

I stayed in a room at Emma when I was down for interviews.

Assuming I make the grades I would like to try rowing at some point, but boaties have to get up at crazily early times in the morning so it can affect your work/social life.

I will probably join a few things like orchestras though.

The rooms vary in price:

I think rooms in Emmanuel house and the hostel are midrange:

Rooms in South Court are average too, this is where first years tend to live (above the bar!):
user posted image

For my interviews I stayed in North Court which varies from not so good to very good:
user posted image

The most expensive room in the college are in New Court and are usually reserved for advanced students/visitors who the college want to show off too:

There is also Old Court which looks a bit naff and the rooms are quite variable I think:
