I just found out today that I got a band 1 in English. A Band 1! English! I've never heard those words mentioned together before! Did anyone else with As find out their bands?

I got a band 1 for Maths! I nearly fell over when Jimmy told me that!

My other two A's were band 2's.

Can you only find out what band you attained by asking your teacher? I kinda want to know now but won't find out until school starts on Monday biggrin.gif

yeah i also got a band 1 in maths and as for scrapping standard grades that is really a bad idea because the in1 in2 courses are generally speaking badly planned and worth nothing.

Like the wise man once said if it aint broke don't fix it

If i am not here i am somewhere else

except you did competely fail but by only a tiny amount

The idea for wantever reason is to show that you were close sort of like the reason we have bands at all really like i know i would have got A's in physics and chem if i had maybe done my arithmatic better or read a question properly because i got a band 3 this those subjects

But, yeah i do agree its does hurt quite a bit when you think of what could have been

If i am not here i am somewhere else

This is gonna really annoy you all but I know a guy who got 5 A-band 1s! Now to everyone in my school especially who is on this give the guy some credit and respect! Who thinks there should be an award at the award ceremony for HCHS (my school) which is above the 5A acheivement award just for him?

Hey Go Craig Go Go , go Craig. Respect.

Wow, that's cool that you know people with 5 band 1s. I found out my bands and I too got 5 band 1s! It was totally unexpected, I really didn't expect English to be a band 1, and I thought I'd slip up somewhere else as well. I think only two people in my year got 5 A band 1s, me and a very clever girl, but hopefully more did too. I go to James Gillespies High School. Hopefully this doesn't make me Mr Unpopular...

I got an A for english (band 2) I was estimated to get a band one for English, but I only got a band 2. I know of one person in my school who was estimated for a band 6 C who got a band 1 A.

In terms of bands I got four band 1 A's in Chem, Maths, Geo and Computing and 2 Band 2 A's in Physics and English.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

I heard that the cut off mark for english was 64%, there can't be any truth in this can there? From what I've heard it has been over60% for a C in previous years as the interpretation has supposedly been classed as 'too easy'. However over 60% is a bit much just for a pass so is this the case? blink.gif
