Along these lines - the SAAS estimates of how much it costs to live are
completely unrealistic. The cheapest accomodation I can get is still more expensive than what they estimate. It's going to be absolutely hellish once I'm out of halls.

Edit: Total living costs are going to be around £5500 for a student in Glasgow I think - housing ~£3000 in first year, £1000 in leisure (ie. going to the pub), £650 for food, £200 books, £350 clothes, £150 travel and £150 on something else I've forgotten.
That's much more expensive than the just over £4000 that SAAS estimate.
I got bored so i estimated how much it would cost me to live on my own and its well over the SAAS amount you get.
I get £6350 per year with some over estimates, so will be lower. That's for two people staying together outside of Uni halls, living in Baillieston and going to Strathclyde University.
It includes Rent, TV + Phone + Internet all from Tellewest, TV License, food, Travel, Gas and Electricity, Books, Uni Gym and misc spending.
I would say there is probably upto £1000 per person over estimate though.
