I worked in Somerfield and everyone got the same regardless of whether you were stacking shelves or whether you were on the tills.

its not a major difference. i think the fresh & gorcery guys get £5.16 an hour.

yeah i'm pretty sure cashiers in tescos get a tiny bit more than everybody else does sad.gif

At the moment I have two jobs! One at the local garage on a Saturday where I get £4.25 an hour... and also work at tescos on around £6.60 something an hour (because they pay time and a half for Sundays!) Tesco seems an ok place for a partime during school type job - although not nearly as much socialising as the garage! dry.gif I know I'm there to work but it's nice if ya can have fun as well! biggrin.gif

What do you do in Tesco's nathan? Im in dairy section blink.gif Our tesco's is just about built now but im already getting paid for the training etc... (which i've been missing most of due to the exams!)

haha! laugh.gif Sounds like im missing out on the fun! Oh well, I still get that at the garage I suppose! Although I seem to always run out of fake laughs for the customers by the end of each shift! Can get quite repetitive hearing the same 'funny' comments about the weather again.... and again...

you really are missing out laugh.gif

the stuff people ask for is pretty funny too...there was this american guy asked the girl i was working with where he could find "soup in a plastic tub..like minestrone"

and she said.."soap?"

she genuinely hadn't heard him and i couldnt stop myself from laughing rolleyes.gif

biggrin.gif haha! sounds like a good laugh! You do get some pretty unique people coming in to shops! One woman at the garage filled her disel car right up with petrol - and then asked if it would actually make a difference and if she could just drive away! huh.gif It''s also pretty good if you get your regulars coming in as well! Like this one old lady who has never failed to talk about the weather every day of the two years I've worked there! laugh.gif

But yeah, when the holidays come, il be trying to cover as much shifts as possible for a while in either tesco or the garage to get quite a bit of money behind me! Dunno how they'll react though when they find out about my two D of E walks - plus my holiday, and the things I've missed becuase of exams.... unsure.gif

I think Tesco stopped paying the front end people more than the others. It's quite an okay job, especially on days like yesterday when I got to muck about with the create a cake machine! tongue.gif lol. I'm so easily amused! =p

I'm starting in Tesco tomorrow, getting trained to use the checkouts.
I'm getting payed £5.20 an hour, but apparently it goes up to £5.80 if I stay for so long.
Also get a little extra for working past 10pm which is gd.

6 months i think it is before the first pay rise...however, i think it's like their annual pay review for the whole company in a couple of weeks (apparently they do it in june every year) so you should an extra few pence per hour from like mid-june onwards

we used to get double time on bank holidays, plus 1/5 of your contract hours. until morrisons came in & took over. but thats another rant for another message board!
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance

Nah, didnt think so. tongue.gif

Well, yes, actually. Provided you can swim.

Lifeguarding's a cracker of a job, with decent career opportunities too!

I'm not complaining about being paid richly to sit on my arse in a warm room half the time. No, I'm complaining about cleaning...

you don't need a CV, just need to fill in a questionnaire and an application form and be deemed "green" by whoever does your interview based on your interview performance and your questionnaire

The questionaire is scary.... you have to circle 2 out of four statements for 16 questions, 1 which is most like u, and 1 which is least like u. None of the statements have any bad qualities, so you have 2 work out which is the least applicable to working in tesco. rolleyes.gif

The interview consists of a set of 6 questions, like...... think of a time you helped someone, think of a time someone put trust in you, a time when u worked as a team and so forth..

i loved my interview...i would say the first few key words that he was looking for and then he'd hint at what the rest were...they were obviously desperate considering i also got the job there and then tongue.gif
