Was just talking to one of my mates who got a Band 1 in the prelim. Thinks he only got a B in this exam.

I got 93% in the prelim, and I also think I'm gonna get a B. Saying that exam was SADISTIC is not an overstatement!!!

When the gaussian elimination is redundant you make z=z dont you and then work bak from there.

The exam did seem to throw in all the questions that nobody wanted. There was too much integration no partial fractions, no real matrices, the sequence and series was a bit strange. Differential equation could have been a bit harder or worth more marks. Overall It was a difficult paper especially the asymptotes question and the proof by induction.

That was the worst exam/test/prelim I've ever sat!! It was sooooo much worse than past papers and I'm definitely going to fail. Maths was the ony subject this year I thought I could do well in : sad.gif oh well... thank god i don't need it for uni! Feel like crying now.

my maths teacher came in at the end and said it was the hardest yet. The boundaries will go way down

Are the SQA seriously this incapable of keeping exam standards consistent? What an absolute joke - I've yet to hear of a single person who found it fair.

I hope AH chemistry will be okay, because *touch wood* they tend to recycle the questions from previous years. I'm not looking forward to AH biology though! If the essay's on DNA profiling I may cry.

Q17 was quite difficult although managed to get all but part d. Q13 was pain cos we have never done proofs with matrices in that way. Maths teacher said to our class after we did it that it was sufficiently difficult. Hopefully they will drop the pass mark from last year

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH blink.gif ohmy.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif blink.gif blink.gif

If it makes anyone feel better, I found that paper totally hard. It was evil. The other past papers that I tried were quite easy compared to this one, especially last years.

It wasnt too bad to start with but then that one on prooving crap came up and i was like WTF. The differential equation one should have been harder for more marks. Dont know what question 10 was all about but I didnt seem to get a very good answer for Q11. And what was the deal with all of these even/odd things?

I wasnt sure about the prove by induction one but the worst questions were the last two and qustion 14C.
The last one did not make any sense and neither did the sequence one. mad.gif
Someone show us how to do last one.

the last question of what I got of it relies this rule.

 cos{^2}x = \frac{1}{2}x + \frac{1}{2}cos2x

7) a) I tried making n=2m (even) first then n=2m+1 (odd). False. Doubt this is correct.

7)b) n=2 gives 15, which isn't prime.

10) differentiate. made dx/dt = 0, solve for T. then find d2x/dt2 and check the nature.

11) I ended up with something like 2xsin2x I think.

16) Didn't seem too bad, it seemed to be loads of simplifying.

I'm VERY interested in what the answer to q13 is, if anyone knows.

it was well hard!
first page was easy then the rest
bloody hell lol!!!!!

INDUCTION!!!! ALL THAT INTEGRATION!!!! EVEN FUNCTIONS! WTF!

LOL GOOD I GOT 6 UNCONDITIONALS!!!
like sumbody said earlier, where was the pish easy euclidean and partial fraction stuff. and even this year they make the differential equation an easy one where i cud of dun with a slighltly harder one worth more marks!!!!!!!!!
