What's the fuss about question 17? It's beautiful, once you've got it all to fall into place.
Horrendous before that, like, but the solution's beautiful in it's elegance.
And whoever wrote question 12 needs taking out and shooting: you didn't even need to be able to know whether an even function is reflected about the y-axis or rotated pi radians about the origin. A gift of three marks, if ever I saw one.

OMG that paper was horrid! i dunno how anyone managed to solve the gaussian. i got x=1 and that was about it. used about 4 pages looking for y and z. nope! tried everything but noooo. don't think i even got 35 marks. that paper was outta 90 btw. some ppl in ma mate's school counted them all. i did all the questions in a random order, but wtf was Q17? and it didn't help that i revised all the wrong stuff. if i pass that, it'll be a miracle. glad it's only a fallback! eek!
Mod edit: Ouch. My eyes.
Erm, I have the paper in front of me and I can assure you that it's out of 100, unless my calculator is lying.

I totally agree with RLBH on this one: question 17 was stunnin.
However, Question 16 was stinkin. Especially part c which made me want to nailgun my hand to the exam table.
Anyway, I'm shure you'd all agree with me when I say the exam was relatively easy. No problems with anybodoy getting an A1 here I'm sure.
PS: Gauss is an absolute ledgend!!!! Question 9 rocked!!!!!!

Robert, not everyone is a brainbox like you! I envy you! it's not fair! but please, don't inflict it on everyone else, ya nutcase! xxx

Question 17 actually is easy when you are careful, that's the secret!

Yeh true although part d of the question was tricky.

aye right! a bit of logic and common sense and u were laughin. You just follow the rules of integration by parts. The fact that they threw in a few sines and cosines shouldn't make it any harder.

The Gaussian was redundant, and I said so. The paper wasn't too bad, but it was harder than any past papers I've done. I'm keeping my mouth shut because knowing my luck I won't have done great. :x

Q17. Was beautiful, I couldn't finish it though, couldn't get d) (could someone post a solution?), I kept getting it referring back to (cos x)^4.
If Intergral (cos x)^4 = 1/4 + 3*Intergral (sin x)^2*(cos x)^2
but Intergral (sin x)^2*(cos x)^2 = Intergral (cos x)^2 - Intergral (cos x)^4
but Intergral (cos x)^4 = ....
BTW to stop all the arguments about Q9. (Gaussian), it was redundent here are the equations, notice all solutions given work...
2x - y + 2z = 1
x + y - 2z = 2
x - 2y + 4z = -1
