It was mentioned in the passing once in PSE that we should get a UCAS card. I haven't heard that anyone else is getting one but I had a look at the website anyway. Is it really worth filling all those forms in to get one? And if you do get one is it sent to your house or to the school?

Ok, thanks.
I've never used the offers on my Young Scot so doubt I'd be likely to use them on the UCAS. Anything else it does? The site isn't the clearest.

the ucas card is what UCAS send out when you register with them. its a bit like the young scot cards - gives you offers on things etc.

stupid thing is it runs out in february after getting it which is kind of daft.

I used mine maily for getting money of cinema tickets. Was pretty handy for that. Also for pizza hut i found it handy and I think for citylink busses, which i get up north.

you never use your young scot card? topshop! cinema tickets! pizza hut! i couldn't have survived without it, lol. & you can pass it off as a student card in a lot of places - tons of shops do a student discount!

but by then, most people applying to go to uni will have a student card, which will pretty much replace it!

They are pretty much useless, just like those snapfax things that students get.

Just wait until you get your student id card, you save loads with them!

Some useful places for discounts: Topshop (10%), Cinemas, Some restaurants do one, D2 (20%, you can make some real killer discounts in this place, my mate once managed to get an £80 top for £35 because of all the deals they have!) HMV (10%, also applies to their offers on CD's DVD's ). Burtons (10%) and lots of local shops round about the unis tend to have some good deals too. Careful on trying to pass off stuff as student cards though...

sorry, you what?! the snapfax isn't useless! its like, 20 or 30% off in burger king! & free entry to campus!

edit: obviously the campus one only applies to glasgow students though....

The snapfaxes in glasgow might be good, but the ones for St Andrews and Dundee are useless, loads of discounts, but on things we dont want or care about.

ah, that makes more sense. the dundee & st andrews snapfax is only about 2 pages long! but mind you, st andrews, from what i hear, doesn't really have many places that you'd want a discount on!

Thats true, for the places on it that are worth a discount, you get a discount just by showing your student id. Defeats the purpose really of having it in the first place.

I never used my UCAS card when I had mine either.

And why would you want to go to Campus? It's a dive.

But thank the Lord for 10% off at Topshop with a student card. It justifies why I buy so much stuff in there!
