At St Andrews we had 12000 applications for places this year, the University told us that this equated roughly speaking to 11 applicants per place. So its harder to get in this year, than it was for me (for example) last year as the number of applicants rose by 11% on last year. If you were doing IR at St Andrews, (as you said for Aberdeen) then note that this is THE single most competitive subject here, even more so than medicine. Because its so popular, the IR modules are restricted to people registered for an IR degree, ie cos i am in the science faculty, i couldnt do IR modules at all (even though i have the grades to do so). This is unusual because for everything else, you can do any subject you want pretty much if you have the pre-requisites for it. Aberdeen will be good though, they have an excellent French department :-)

I applied for both French/IR and Economics/French, but go sweet FA. I'm not bothered now, but it was crushing dissapointment when I found out, but life is about moving on. Who knows, it may be the best thing that's ever happened to me, as I had no intention of visiting Aberdeen till St.A's rejected me, and I fell in love with the place when I went up for Applicants Day! smile.gif

Definitely going to Dundee since i only applied to it since I live in dundee, dont want to move/dont think im mature enough to look after myself lol and although there are two unis in dundee, one of them has a reputation round these parts so Dundee Uni was the only option.

Now i have to decide which of my 6 unconditionals to take lol. I think advanced computing has put me off computing for life so its now looking like Finance or Accountancy for me.

What subjects/degree are you doing? Also Aberdeen is a good place to study, i know plenty of people who go there (being from that part of the world lol) and they have had lots of good experiences and had a lot of fun. The union isnt that great at the moment i have been told but you have loads of pubs in Aberdeen which are far superior anyway.

one of my friends has a conditional to go to Aberdeen to do medicine. she's currently trying to decide between moving to Aberdeen, or staying at home & going to Glasgow uni. seems Aberdeen is a popular one this year though!
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance
