I noticed you said that you had a MIDI sequencing component for your music exam...is this your optional element?  It sounds alot more interesting than what I'm doing.

Yes, midi sequencing is my optional element. Here's a basic outline of what it involves, if you're interested:

  • A written paper of about twelve questions concerning the use of the compositional program Notator Logic aswell as some general questions about MIDI.

  • A pre-written invention in Logic that the candidate must edit, for example, change tempo, pan an instrument to a different speaker, change volume settings etc.

  • Submission of a 3-minute invention written in Logic that demonstrates use of MIDI sequencing techniques (like the ones mentioned above).

There's quite a lot to it on top of the other elements in higher music but I quite enjoy it. I'm the only candidate doing it this year in my school and there was only one person who chose it last year (the first year it was offered).

QUOTE(ad absurdum @ Feb 23 2006, 06:04 PM)
Also, what instrument do you play?

I play three instruments: Bass, Guitar and Piano. This year I will be playing bass for my performing exam.

View Post

Cool, sounds interesting. We weren't offered that at our school, although a couple of the computers do have stuff like Cubase which I think can do this kind of thing. I wish I'd known about this sooner, I might have been able to ask if I could do it. Anyway, good luck with that.

That's fair enough. As long as you are sure that's what you want to do with your life. Good luck in the future.

That's like my standard grade music practical. In the end they didn't stick to it and let me in when I arrived.

Anyway, my results... I'm stupid. I don't know what grades I got; just the percentages.

English: 70% (v. disappointed with that *poke*)
Maths: 64% (meh)
Chem.: 61% (another disappointment *poke*)
Mod. Stud.: 60% (time! I hate the lack of time! Diiiie!)
Physics: 40% (err, yeah... Though our teacher admitted it was a stupidly difficult prelim -- there's an oxymoron for you -- and I reckon Pegasys should diiiie. [/rant])

I want at least AAAAB. I need a miracle. *slumps*

Though I keep thinking that these grades are... OK... considering I did very little revision. These should be the worst grades I get.

I say in hope.

Those are good grades if you did little revision. As long as you put the effort in before the exams you should be able to achieve your target.

Maths - A (73%)
Chemistry - A (80%)
Physics - A (79%)
Biology - A (78%)
English - Reading - C (27/50) And it's my good half. I still haven't got the writing back yet and am not hopeful. I'm guessing I'v probably got an overall fail for writing because I usually do but I'm hoping it will be enough for me to scrape a pass.
Edit: I went and got 58% in english. My marker must have been so soft to give me 30 in the writing.

I really don't like writing things. It just doesn't happen. I have passed all my nabs so far but they're about the only things I have passed. Whoever said reading a lot was a liar, theres some people who have no skill at all for english. I really hate higher english, I used to love reading and was ok at writing things but it's made me stop liking to read and my grammer and spelling have only got worse.

Totally pointless post - just noticed I've posted this somewhere else! Sorry!
Oh weep for Adonais—he is dead!
Wake, melancholy Mother, wake and weep!
Yet wherefore? Quench within their burning bed
Thy fiery tears, and let thy loud heart keep,
Like his, a mute and uncomplaining sleep;

All my subjects were Highers, but I had to work so hard at english, and even then it was my worst result sad.gif . I only got a B in it because everyone got an extra 7 marks because the paper was too hard... I would've got a C. My chemistry was only just an A too - on the mark!

English: 64% - B
Maths: 86% - A
Chemistry:: 72% - A
Physics: 74% - A
Computing: 81% - A

Well done to everyone!
