I'm investigating electromagnetic braking for my physics investigation and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about the mathematics behind the braking of a spinning disk using an electromagnet. huh.gif

I know that eddy current are induced which by Lenz's Law oppose the motion of the disk but i have not found any more detailed maths behind the phenomenon.
I've had a look around the internet but so far haven't found anything.

If anyone knows anything about this or any useful websites it would be a great help.

This is rather similar to my investigation, except I'm using eddy currents to damp SHM.

As for the math involved in generation of eddy currents:

Read the first 7 odd paragaphs, well worth it. I'd imagine the same formulae apply.
