Yeh 55.56Kg should be fine.

I got the gas to be Hydrogen

Anyone else get that?

Yeah! I put the gas to be hydrogen as well biggrin.gif

Don't really know why I put that though! I sat staring at the question for ages, and couldn't really come up with anything, so put hydrogen.

What did you put for process B, and why did you put Hydrogen?

Well Air was coming in, so I chose not put Oxygen as it was already being used and Nitrogen is really unreactive so I chose hydrogen; also sulphuric acid contains hydrogen so that is the main reason.

I put displacement for Process B.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, coz I couldn't see that the hydrogen for the sulphuric acid was coming from anywhere else. Someone in my class said he put Sulphur dioxide for gas A, but if that is the answer, I can't really see where it would have come from?

what was the process to go from the ore to zinc? also what was the gas in that process? and where did the arrow go to?

I put sulphur dioxide gas for the gas A, I had my reasons but I obviosly can't remember the flow chart.
Got displacement for the process! smile.gif

I put ethyne for that last q.

What did anyone get for the redox eq one? I thot it was quite hard as I always get lost in them, I got quite a large value I am sure, 6 point something blink.gif Prob wrong.

I believe the raw material MC was Sodium Chloride, although I ain't sure, I think I read that in the textbook, saying that was where they got chlorine from cool.gif

i thought the exam was relatively straightforward....me and my teacher both got 58.55kg for the mass of zinc deposited but we disagreed on the value for the enthalpy of neutralistion question. For the question with the magnesium ribbon i drew the graduated tube inverted and filled with the water with the funnel upside down and sticking inside the tube, the magnesium ribbon sitting under the funnel and it was all in the beaker of water. overall not bad at all smile.gif

I done that too! smile.gif

Wot did you get for enthalpy of neutralisation? I got 54.3 or summit like that smile.gif

i got the same as sparky with the ethyne and sulphur dioxide. Thought the exam was pretty good

Nice way to finish my exams but don't know what to do with myself now. Sure i'l find something wink.gif

Oh, and i also got 58 odd kg for that question

If i am not here i am somewhere else

Did you not get 55Kg? That's what I got.

Also for the gas why was it sulphur dioxide? blink.gif

And also why was it ethyne? I got propyne

The enthalpy of neutralisation was negative though.

Thats what I got anyway because the temp had gone up making it negative.

The enthalpy of neutralisation was -54.4 kJ mol -1

What u think an A will be if its between 80 and 75% I might just manage it!

Yeah Louise I got the same for you for the enthalpy of neutralisation question. smile.gif

What did u get for the gas and the carbon compound?

The percentage will probably be about 76/77 although you never know, it could be completely different.

lol. Don't have a clue.

But it was question 3 and it was a flow diagram thing.

Almost EVERY multiple choice was a repeat of a previous one, didnt even change the possible answers biggrin.gif

Overall felt it was the easiest exam so far, a couple of wee tricky bits, but overall pretty decent cool.gif

Yeah, I didnt really know what i was supposed to do with the magnesium ribbon question.

Also got 55.55 smile.gif

Yeah there were some definite repeats.

Question 39, probbaly would have taken quite a while but I had done it before; did u get B for that question?

The gas was used to make sulphuric acid.... so it had to be sulphur dioxide. I think i wrote trioxide though sad.gif

Where did everyone draw the water molecules for the hydrogen bonds?

Also what did people get for Compound Z?

drew the hydrogen bonds between the oxyen from one molecule and the hydrogen from another and vice versa.....think u were supposed to only put one hydrogen bond in tho :S and i got but-1-ene for compound Z
