Hey,

What did everyone think?

Did anyone get prop-1-ene for the compund in the last question?

Also, what did everyone do with that diagram question and what did everyone write for the Vitamin C question.

Did anyone get 55.55kg for one question (can't remember which one).

For one part of the last question I'm sure I got an -yne.

55.55kg sounds familar smile.gif

The Vitamin C question = panic

And, what diagram are you referring to? [I'm sure there were more than one]

I've made so many stupid mistakes and I know it. sad.gif

The diagram where you had to arrange stuff, it included a magnesium ribbon. I think i got that wrong as I didn't understand what it was asking you.

As for the preperation of esters diagram I forgot to put the paper towel condensor at the top of the test-tube. DAMN! lol (I went through all the PPA's drawing the diagrams yesterday)

Did you get that Vitamin C was in excess?

vit c was in excess by like 0.12g, so i said the iodine solution turned colourless.

I also got 55.55kg, though i ran outta time for 6 marks worth of questions! i just had 2 rush through them all at the end cas i spent way too long on the multi-choice dry.gif

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Almost EVERY multiple choice was a repeat of a previous one, didnt even change the possible answers biggrin.gif

Overall felt it was the easiest exam so far, a couple of wee tricky bits, but overall pretty decent cool.gif

Yeah, I didnt really know what i was supposed to do with the magnesium ribbon question.

Also got 55.55 smile.gif

Exam was good, plenty of past multi choice questions as well. I don't know about the diagrams, I bluffed my way through them. It was PROPYNE you needed for the second last quesntion, as it was a triple bond. Has anyone else noticed that all the problem solving for most highers is straight out the associated advanced higher KU.

A here we come:)

Prop-1-yne is good as well, but the -1- is not needed becuase of the number of carbons - it is a symetrical molecule.

What did you get for how you measure the molar volume of Hydrogen?

Oh and btw, does anyone know how CO2 can dissolve in water.

It was for the mass of Zinc, the question where you had to use Q=I*t

In the multiple Choice did anyone get D (3+4) for the mass of the ions.

Yes, I got that too

btw ally, I think that the CO2 dissolving thing might have something to do with polar covalent bonds in the CO2 molecule (not sure if this is right coz I havn't checked the data book - I think I might burn it lol! tongue.gif )

Yeah! I got that. Didn't get 55.55 though...

Still I thought the exam went really really well. Definetly wasn't as hard as I was expecting. Would be gobsmacked if I didn't pass - and an A would be nice!

I thought the exam was quite difficult - harder than I thought it would be. I would say that it was definetely more difficult than the past papers I have done sad.gif

Anyway, will just have to wait till August now smile.gif

What did everyone get for the raw material for the M.C paper (I went in the exam, knowing hardly anything about Industrial Chemistry, not the best thing to do).

Also what did everyone write for the flow diagram?

Did anyone get the reaction to be a displacement 1? blink.gif

Also, did anyone draw the sulphuric acid going into the neutrailser bit?

Hey I think i put sodium chloride for the raw material question.
I put displacement for one of the questions too but I dont remember puttin 55.5 for any of them.
I got 3 + 4 for the mass of ions.

Did anyone else find the last question strange??

The last question was set in a problem solving context so you did not need any real understanding.

Yeah it was quite weird when I looked at it, but I think I understood what it was asking for.

I drew sulphuric acid going into the neutraliser bit, not because I knew that was where it was supposed to go, but because I couldn't really see anywhere else it could go blink.gif

I thought that question was quite hard (Q3 I think it was)

I didn't really get what gas A and process B were - I just guessed. I think I put extraction for process B but I don't even think that is a type of reaction!

btw, 55.55 sounds vaguely familiar, except I think I rounded it to 55.56 - do you think that'll be ok? unsure.gif

Hi smile.gif

That's basically how I feel. I managed to write an answer for everything, but just not sure if it's the right answer! I think when you come out of the exam, you can only ever think about all of the questions you think you've got wrong, well I do anyway! Am feeling slightly better about it now than I did immediately after the exam smile.gif
