At my school we use the scholar textbooks only. Are these suitable to base all learning on? I was thinking about buying my own materials (maths in action, teejay) because i feel scholar is insufficient.

I agree with you on saying Scholar is insufficient. The Scholar notes are great but as a extra to other materials. The online Scholar notes are also brilliant. Ask your teacher if you have a Scholar password. You should get a Maths in Action textbook with lots of questions you can do. Personally, I use the best of several materials.

scholar is insufficient

we had maths in action textbooks to run the course from and used scholar for notes, not tht any of us actually used them

also did TeeJay for extra examples and prelims

last year there was 2 A;s, 5B's and a C or two + 1 fail

year before was 5A's and a B

so that formula seems to work well

If i am not here i am somewhere else

Our teacher used his notes from uni..and for practice we just did past papers throughout the year. None of my class really liked scholar..so we rarely used it.

we only use scholar at school as well. I think it is quite good if there is something in class that you don't understand. I found it helpful for stuff in the very first topic, like binomial theorem and all the rest of it

The only time we ever used Scholar was when our teacher picked out extra examples for revision out of it!

We used a mixture of various materials. We used TeeJay a good bit - plenty of examples for revision. We used the book sometimes, although not as heavily as we did at Higher. We also did CSYS past papers from way back! tongue.gif
