Hey ive kinda forgot how 2 do these q's can sum 1 help. I get totally different anwers than the ones given.

Questions from Scholar

Q1)

An animation contains 1 minute of film. It is displayed in a frame size of 5 X 4 inches at a rate of 25 frames per second using a resolution of 300 dpi and colour depth of 24 bits. Assuming no compression, calculate the total storage requirements for this animation in Megabytes. Your answer should be given to 2 decimal places.

Q2)

Calculate the size in bytes of a bitmap image of dimension 4 X 3 inch square using 72 dots per inch resolution and a pixel depth of 1-bit.

Thanks

for question one going by the way i have learned to do it i would do:

5 times 300 =1500
4 times 300 = 1200
multiply 1500 by 1200 to get 1800000 then multiply by 3 (24bits =3bytes) =>5400000bytes /1024 =kilobytes /1024 =megabytes =>5.149841309 times 25 (25 frames per second) = 128.7460327 and times 60 as 60 seconds in a minute => answer should be 7724.76MB to 2 decimal places
This does not seem correct do u knw the value u r supposed to get?

for question 2

4 x 72 = 288
3 x 72 = 216
216 x 288 =62208 times 1 => 62208 bits and divided by 8 (as 8 bits in a byte)

=> should be 7776 bytes

hope this is off some use

Those dont look right to me... sad.gif

Check out the page if u have access, its under

Although I would have done the whole calculation before simplifying (i.e. 5 * 4 * 300 * 300 * 3 * 25 * 60 = 8100000000 then would divide by 1024 * 1024 * 1024)

I think you would just divide 7724.76MB by 1024 and take it down to gigabytes.

=> 7724.76 / 1024 = 7.54GB

That's how I would do it anyways. Hope it helped

k....ave checked out the site and a duno what or where the answer "g1" comes from so thats got to be an error or it needs explaining and for the second question that gives 60.75 that is correct if you do 4x72 x 3x 72 = 62208 multiplied by 1 = 62208 bits /1024 = 60.75.....HOWEVER I always thought that there was 8bits in a byte not 1024 so again a think they are wrong

I would definetly agree. The colour depth is 1-bit so the answer would be in bits. Divide by 8 for bytes, then 1024 for kilobytes, then 1024 for megabytes and 1024 for gigabytes.

And i thought SCHOLAR was supposed to be good!

The first question is very unlike the question you get....question 2 is more like the type of question you get asked in the exam tongue.gif
