Are there not other things you could do then, if you like art and music you could do that at a kind of art school or something, coz you shouldn't have to go and do something for 4 years of your life and not enjoy it at all.

i've thought about art college since i was in p5. i'd love to go. my sister is in her 5th year of art college. the strange thing is that my dad doesnt want me to go to art college yet he didnt mind her going. (i think thats cos there is more chance of her getting a job at the end of it) also, there is still the problem of what to do at the end of it.

everything i want do is a bit daft it seems.

You should really do what you want rather than what you're parents want you to do(i'm a very good example of that in many ways lol) because in the end its what s going to make you happy
And for jobs i think planitplus is quite good for telling you what you can do at the end of whatever kind of thing you want to do.It also has a carrer test type thing

I hope to do Either Accountancy, Applied Computing or Accountancy with Applied Computing.

QUOTE(miss macleod @ Aug 22 2005, 04:28 PM)
well, i like art and music an awful lot, but they are both very hard to get jobs in unless you want to do teaching.

i hate science, maths, english, computing - basically all academic languages!! not good.  wink.gif

the other thing about university which frightens me is all the essays and that - i can't write an essay alone to save myself.

Well, at least you know what you like smile.gif That's a start.

With a talent for art and music I'm sure there's tonnes of careers open to you. I stumbled across this job when looking for info on becomming an officer. I mean, I'm not telling you to go join the military, but it's one other career that's open to you!

A friend of mine who's an amazing drummer is going to college this year to study music production/management and will also be a session musician (is that what they're called? Playing an instrument - i.e. drums - for other bands/artists?), so perhaps you should look around for some college courses that appeal to you.

I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing you, or telling you what to do, but university isn't the be-all and end-all. What's more important is that you're doing something that you enjoy as opposed to enduring a uni course all for the sake of a degree that you don't really want.

QUOTE(miss macleod @ Aug 22 2005, 04:31 PM)
well, no - i don't want to go to uni

Please, please, please don't let yourself get pressured into going, then. Please. You seriously do not want to waste four years of your life.

(But, please note, by saying that I'm not saying DO NOT GO, cos you might end up enjoying it. But if you're really really not wanting to go, then don't just go for the sake of it.)

thank you smile.gif

I really dont think i will ever decide cos I have never known. Buti think i need to go to uni though. the thing about me is that i don't want to do anything. or, rather, i am stubborn and think i wont like something and then i end up loving it. If i knew what i wanted to do, i'd love to go to university.

Ach, i'll see how things go. smile.gif

It was just really disorganised, tacky and the teachers were really unhelpful. sad.gif

I dunno if it was just that bit of the uni, but first impressions count and all that. wink.gif

I haven't been to St Andrews on the open day yet, but have been up with the parents for a look around the town etc. and loved it! smile.gif

French and International Relations - Aberdeen
French and Politics - Glasgow

These are listed in order of preference, and all include a year in Canada! smile.gif
